Record-Breaking Start for 2026 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour
A record-smashing day has marked the official opening of entries for the 2026 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, with 57 teams lodging their entries within just six hours. More than 30 nominations were received in the first 90 minutes alone, setting the stage for another incredible year at Mount Panorama.
Massive Response from Competitors
Event organisers have expressed their excitement at the overwhelming response from both returning and new competitors. The 2026 entry numbers have already eclipsed the 36 entries received on the opening day for the 2025 race — which later amassed a record total of 85 entries before the final 72-car capacity grid hit the track for practice.
Entries Open Until 16 January 2026
Entries for the Bathurst 6 Hour 2026 remain open until 16 January 2026, with the event accepting more than the maximum grid capacity to allow for replacements and last-minute changes.
Teams that do not make the initial 72-car cut will be placed on a waiting list, ready to fill any vacancies caused by pre-event withdrawals — a common occurrence leading up to race weekend.
‘Hot Standby’ Option for Teams
Once the final grid is confirmed before the event, standby teams can still attend and be on ‘hot standby’. These teams may compete if a withdrawal occurs during the early practice sessions, provided the move is approved by Motorsport Australia Stewards.
This process was successfully demonstrated in 2025 when a Ford Mustang was added late to the grid after another team withdrew post-practice.
